Emi Tao Takeuchi

Emi is a clinical mental health counseling intern supervised by Tyson Furr, PhD.

With a global education spanning 3 continents (in Honolulu, New York, Florence, La Coruña, and Tokyo), Emi has a first-hand understanding of navigating life in a foreign place, both as a child and as an adult. Her background includes helping individuals through major life challenges, such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Certified in Qi Therapy and Medicinal Food Therapy, she is also versed in holistic wellness, exploring mental, emotional, and physical health for a balanced approach to healing. Drawing from her diverse experiences and education, she works with cross-cultural children, adolescents, and adults to develop tailored, practical approaches that reveal and build inner strength and resilience– empowering clients on their journey to personal growth and sustainable well-being.

Emi is available for in-person and virtual sessions in English or Japanese, offering affordable rates on a sliding-scale basis. She integrates various modalities in her practice, including but not limited to Client-Centered Counseling, Multicultural Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
