Ayane Kitta

Living in Japan, a highly collectivistic society, can be challenging for individuals who feel “different.” As a returnee from the U.S. and a speaker of English as a Second Language, Ayane has spent years reflecting on the cultural differences between Japan and the U.S. since her adolescence. Drawing from her personal journey, she aims to support unique individuals living outside of their comfort zones. Whether you’re facing mental health challenges or communication struggles with colleagues, Ayane will support your path to a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Ayane has experience working with clients facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief and loss, childhood trauma, and intersectional identity issues related to age, race, gender, and sexuality. If you’re new to counseling and unclear about your struggle, she will guide you from the first step and help you identify the source of your challenges. While her specialty lies in supporting expatriates, international students, and immigrants with their emotional challenges, Ayane says, “I would be honored to assist you in achieving your well-being and success, no matter where you are in your journey.”

Ayane graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication Studies and from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania with a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling. During her undergraduate studies, she volunteered in communities to support individuals with international backgrounds, where she recognized a strong need for mental health services. After relocating to the U.S., she began providing mental health services to children, youth, and young adults. Currently, she is establishing her foundation to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in New York.
